Decoding the Autonomous Revolution
Autonomous agents are no longer science fiction—they're our reality. From self-driving cars navigating city streets to AI assistants managing our homes, these cognitive reasoning agents are already an integral part of our daily lives.
We define cognitive autonomous agents as an entity designed to perform tasks autonomously by combining four key components: goals, reasoning/planning, memory, and tools.
Goals provide direction by defining what the agent aims to achieve—such as completing a task—while reasoning and planning enable it to determine the best course of action to accomplish those objectives. The agent’s memory allows it to store information about past experiences, tasks, or environmental states, which it can utilize to enhance future decisions. By being equipped with tools, the agent extends its capabilities, allowing it to interact with the environment or handle tasks beyond its intrinsic abilities.
Together, these components form a cohesive system that enables the agent to function intelligently and adapt to dynamic scenarios.

Why is it called Encyclopedia Autonomica?
Autonomous Agents can occur in many different industries ranging from mobility (self-driving cars), and finance (Roboadvisors), to NPCs in video games.
I want this to be a compendium of knowledge about autonomous agents and their applications, benefits, and potential harms.
I want this to be the one place that focuses specifically on autonomous agents and explains how they work. So we can all be in control once they fight us to take over the world. Yes. That was an attempt to be funny.
What will you be doing here?
In this newsletter, I will be providing code clinics and paper reviews mainly because I think there is enough content that focuses on news in that space.
Obviously writing these takes time (my time), hence I will usually have the introductory part free and the deep dive paid for.
